Cincinnati Bengals Beat Jacksonville Jaguars With Backup QB Jake Browning

The Cincinnati Bengals move to 2-0 in week two of the 2025 NFL regular season after beating rival, Jacksonville Jaguars in a tightly contested game at Paycor Stadium. Cincinnati looked to be in trouble in the earlier stages of the game when quarterback Joe Burrow sustained a toe injury in the second quarter, handing the game to backup QB Jake Browning.

The Jacksonville Jaguars operated like a well-oiled machine, executing clean drives that secured a 17–10 lead over the Bengals at halftime. In contrast, the Bengals’ backup quarterback struggled to find rhythm, tossing an interception before the break that swung momentum firmly in Jacksonville’s favor.

Browning opened the second half firing precise passes to Ja’Marr Chase, marching the Bengals down to the Jaguars’ 20-yard line. The drive was capped by a spectacular one-handed grab from Mitchell Tinsley, pulling Cincinnati level with Jacksonville.

Jacksonville answered quickly with a touchdown following a poor throw that was picked off from the Bengals’ quarterback. Despite a shaky outing, Browning completed 21 of 32 passes for 241 yards, two touchdowns, and three interceptions. He ultimately redeemed himself with a decisive game-winning QB sneak, sealing a 31–27 victory for Cincinnati over the Jaguars.
